Question: How do I ensure the Website Name appears in all the pages?
Answer: A current palliative solution to this flaw requires the installation of a Joomla extension (a plugin). The procedure is outlined below.
Overview: This is a "flaw" observed only in Joomla 1.5.x (Frontend), as of this writing. It works in the Backend. And, it is a problem not encountered in Joomla 1.0.xx. The latest version of Joomla 1.5.x (currently 1.5.7), the "Home" page displays the website name. However, the website name is not displayed in any of the other pages.
Significance: It is very important to include the website name in all pages and of course the name of each page, as an orienting tool. Also, when you you have multiple browsers open, without the website name, it is difficult to identify website that is associated with a page title. Bookmarks would be much more useful also if the website name.
General Procedure
- Go to the Joomla Extensions website
- Search for "Website Name" or "website_name"
Current URL: http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,3352/Itemid,35/ - Download plugin_1.5_website_name-May2008.zip
- Install the "Website Name plugin using the install-uninstall mechanism of Joomla 1.5.x
- Go to plugin manager and activate the "System - Website name plugin"
That's it. Until Joomla restores this omission, the plugin is the palliative answer to the problem, right now.
